New Project Targeting Federal Agencies for LGBT Rights in Development at PIP.

January 20, 2010

A new project dedicated to making federal agency policies and practices more responsive to the rights and needs of the LGBT community has been announced by Public Interest Projects (PIP), the effort's fiscal sponsor. The new project, currently being developed, will work in close collaboration with the National Gay and Lesbian Task Force Foundation, Gay and Lesbian Leadership Institute and the Human Rights Campaign Foundation.

Perfecting Our Union: Human Rights Success Stories Across the United States, a new report by the U.S. Human Rights Fund, a PIP collaborative fund, documents how human rights values, standards, and strategies are being used to change policies and improve people's lives. It features case studies about USHRF grantees, including Border Network for Human Rights, Coalition of Immokalee Workers, and the Human Rights Institute at Columbia University, and describes how human rights can help build alliances among disparate advocates, give victims a sense of vindication and hold the U.S.
